Understand and document data from matzevot
For many project leaders, the drive to restore their ancestral cemetery is out of respect and consideration for their ancestors. Inherent in that is documenting and sharing data from headstones. This is something you may do yourself, collaborate with others on, or rely upon professionals. There is considerable guidance for interpreting inscriptions and sharing data. Even for those with moderate Hebrew literacy, understanding inscriptions can be challenging. We refer you to a webpage on JewishGen.org entitled Reading Hebrew Tombstones.

The Guidebook will provide more detailed information on understanding inscriptions and how to share the data with the broader community.
***This is provided as interim guidance until our Guidebook is released.***
